Francesca Romana Rivelli, aka Ornella Muti, was born in Rome on March 9, 1955.

The environment in which she grows, not by chance, is important for her cultural education. Her father, a journalist from Naples and the mother, from Ukraine, is a sculptor.

She is considered one of the most important actresses that the Italian film school has ever produced.

Ornella Muti made her debut at the age of fourteen with a starring role in a film of shocking news, The Most Beautiful Wife (1969) by Damiano Damiani, a director involved in the filming of political-civil denunciation. From that moment she’ll interpret over 70 roles, working for great directors such as: Monicelli, Dino Risi and Mike Hodges.

7) Silvana Mangano

Silvana Mangano was born in Rome on April 21st 1930 and is the daughter of Amedeo, a humble Italian railwayman and Jakie, a reserved English woman.

In 1947 with Gina Lollobrigida, Gianna Maria Canale and Eleonora Rossi Drago, she took part in the Miss Italia competition but on that occasion Lucia Bosé won.

The 1949 is a very important year for Silvana Mangano because the director Giuseppe De Santis is struck by its beauty during the auditions for “Riso Amaro” but initially does not choose her because was dressed too extravagantly.

During a rainy day, De Santis meets her completely without any make-up, simple, beautiful and with a rose in her hand that gives her an almost picturesque touch. Legend says that he invited her for a second audition that turns out to be decisive because she becomes the protagonist of the film that will make her famous all over the world.

Beautiful and cheeky smoker, short with a high waist and handkerchief on her head, soon turns into a sexy icon of the entertainment world.
